Dell Inkjet Printers - Disable "Ink Alerts"
Most ink cartridges have sensors that report the ink level. The "Low Ink" is usually the last sensor (fuse) before running out of ink.
Since the sensors are fuses that open when the ink level drops, they cannot be reset. If you are using refilled or remanufactured ink cartridges, the best thing to do is to disable "ink alerts" on the printer’s software so you don’t keep getting "low ink" messages.
1. Open the Dell printer software (All-In One Centre, Tool Box, etc)
2. Go to Settings
3. Advanced
4. More Options
5. In the "Appearance Mode, window, check "Never display the Printing Status window" and "Display the low ink alert only when the cartridges are almost empty.
Epson Stylus Inkjet Printers - Disable Non-Genuine Ink Alert
To disable the non-genuine ink warning message you will need to disable Status Monitor
1. Select Epson Printer in printers and hardware
2. Right-Click Select ‘Print Preferences’
3. Left-Click on the ‘Maintenance’ tab
4. Left-Click on the 'Speed & Progress' button, to see the Speed and Progress window
5. To disable the Status Monitor, place a tick in the ‘Disable EPSON Status Monitor 3’ box. Click ‘OK’ to save your setting.
Not only will this remove the alert every time you print, you will also get the full use of the ink cartridge. The status monitor on average informs you to change the cartridge with up to 25% of the ink remaining. You now need to replace the ink cartridges when the printing of each colour starts to fade.
HP Inkjet Printers - Disable Ink Monitor
Holding the Paper Feed Button or Start Button down for 3-5 sec. will allow you to override the ink monitor.
HP61 Ink Cartridge - HP61 Ink Cartridge Foam Change
For those customers remanufacturing the HP61 and HP61XL colour inkjet cartridges it is important to note that there are two types currently available. The difference between these two types is the position of the magenta and yellow foams. In either cartridge the positions have been switched. Therefore you need to identify the magenta and yellow foams with a toothpick prior to starting the remanufacturing process.
HP564 Ink Cartridges - HP61 Ink Cartridge Foam Change
HP have changed the low yield HP564 series inkjet cartridges. The ink inspection window on the bottom of the cartridge has gone and the internal structure has been modified to make refilling harder by removing the internal connection between the front and rear chamber. This means they can only be refilled to 50% capacity which is still the same as the new Genuine OEM Cartridge.
The solution is to buy High Yield (XL) cartridges either Genuine OEM or Compatible which can then be refilled to full capacity.
When using refilled HP564XL cartridges or compatible HP564XL cartridges the micro-chip which indicates the ink level can not be reset. But most printers which use the 564 series (except those with FAX Function facilitated) will continue to function with the "empty" message by either pressing “Continue” or “Start” etc.
HP Monochrome Laser Printers - Clear the Maintenance Service Message / Reset Counters
All HP monochrome laser printers since the 5Si have had 4-digit model numbers (e.g., 2100, 4000, 8150, 8500, 9000 etc.). These printers have three general types of control panels, each with its own characteristic methods of performing resets and other procedures:
Type (1) No LED/LCD display, just buttons and lights (none of these models
have maintenance counts or resets, so we will not discuss them here);
Type (2) LCD display with several lights and buttons, including a green “Go”
key and an orange “Job Cancel” key;
Type (3) LCD display with several lights and buttons, including a green key
with a “√” symbol on it (we will call this the “Select” key, since that is its
function).
Many of these printers have a service message or maintenance message that can be turned off in the menus, but this is not a reliable procedure on any printer after the 5Si. It usually does not reset the maintenance count and only turns the message off temporarily. This can be useful if you do not have a kit handy and just want to turn off the message until you can get one, but if you are installing a kit and want to do a full reset, do not use this method. There are better ways, which will be discussed later. Whichever method you use, we recommend that you print a configuration page and check the “Pages Since Last Maintenance.” If the reset was successful, this should go to zero.
We will discuss the simple methods first, the ones that do not involve going into service mode. There are two basic methods, corresponding to control panel Types (2) and (3) as described above.
Control Panel Type (2):
Start with the printer powered off. Press and hold the left ("-") side of both the “Item” and “Value” keys while powering on, until the display reads “Reset Maintenance Count” (on some models, it will just read “Count”), then release the keys.
Control Panel Type (3):
There are two different ways to start this procedure, depending on printer model: (a) Press and hold the “Select” key while powering on (this tends to be used on older models like the 4200 and 4300); or (b) Power on first, watch the display, and when it starts the memory count, then press and hold the “Select” key (this tends to be used on newer models like the 4250 and 4350). If in doubt, try it both ways – one or the other will work on any monochrome printer with this type of control panel. In either case, continue holding the “Select” key until all control panel lights blink once and then come back on and stay on (this should take about 10 seconds), and then release the key. The display should come up reading “Select Language.” Now use the up or down arrow key to scroll the display until it reads “New Maintenance Kit,” and then press the “Select” key.
In theory, these procedures should both clear the maintenance message (if it has appeared on the display) and reset the maintenance count (whether or not the message has appeared yet). However, we have seen cases where these procedures do not work, especially when done prematurely (before the maintenance message appears). If in doubt, print the configuration page and check “Pages Since Last Maintenance.” If this has not gone to zero, you will have to go into service mode and directly reset the maintenance count. (See Service Pin-Codes) attached to find the appropriate pin-code to enter service mode and directly set all “maintenance count(s)” to zero.
In some machines the “maintenance count(s)” may appear as “remaining life” – in this case, set it to 100 (for 100%) rather than zero. If it is expressed as a count, set it to zero.
Also note that some printers will show both “Maintenance Count” and “Maintenance Interval.”
In general, DO NOT change the “Maintenance Interval”, and you should definitely never set it to zero – in some cases, this can cause a permanent 49 error and necessitate replacement of the formatter board.

When in service mode to set the “Maintenance Count” to zero, note that on most printers the count will appear with a cursor under one digit. Use the “Value” (“+/-”) or arrow keys to change the underlined digit to zero, then “Enter” or “Select” to set that digit and move to the next one. Make sure to select each digit (even the ones that are already zero) – some printers will not actually reset the count until each digit has been selected. If performed correctly, this procedure always works – it will either reset the count directly, or it will force the maintenance message to appear, in which case you can use the simpler methods described earlier.
HP Colour LaserJet Printers - Clear the Maintenance Service Message / Reset Counters
Colour printers are inherently more complex than monochrome printers, and thus have more items that require regular replacement – and different maintenance intervals for the different items. So they generally have multiple kits and resets. On the original Colour LaserJet and Colour LaserJet 5, most of the maintenance items had “first-time-use” fuses, so that the printer would recognize new items and automatically reset the counters. On newer models, only toner cartridges and drums work this way (although the fuses have given way to memory chips, and you often have to cycle the power before the printer will read the chip and recognize the new cartridge or drum). For other maintenance items (typically a fuser kit and a transfer kit), you will have to do something to reset the maintenance count(s). As with the monochrome printers, in most cases there is a simple way. Details vary on different printer models, but we can split the procedures into two groups based on control panel type, just as we did earlier for monochrome printers – in fact, the control panels are the same types as described earlier:
As in monochrome Printers these printers have three general types of control panels, each with its own characteristic methods of performing resets and other procedures:
Type (1) No LED/LCD display, just buttons and lights (none of these models
have maintenance counts or resets, so we will not discuss them here);
Type (2) LCD display with several lights and buttons, including a green “Go”
key and an orange “Job Cancel” key;
Type (3) LCD display with several lights and buttons, including a green key
with a “√” symbol on it (we will call this the “Select” key, since that is its
function).
Control Panel Type (2):
These printers have only one level of menus, and you can scroll through them by repeatedly pressing either side of the “Menu” key. Look for the “Resets” menu, and then use the “Item” key to scroll through this menu. Ideally, you should find fuser and transfer resets, and all you need to do is select the appropriate one. However, on some printers, the reset(s) will not show in the menu if you install the kit(s) early (i.e., before the maintenance message appears on the display). In this case, you will have to go into service mode. See (Service Pin-Codes) attached to find the appropriate pin-code to enter service mode
Control Panel Type (3):
Most of these printers have hierarchical menus – i.e., the menus are arranged in a multi-level tree structure, so finding the resets is a bit trickier. The best way to navigate the menus is to go into the Information Menu (this is always at the top level) and print a menu map, which will show you the entire tree. But in most cases, you can find the resets by selecting “Configure Device” at the top level of the tree. Under that, go to “Resets”, and then “Reset Supplies. Again, there will be separate resets for fuser and transfer kits. Just choose the appropriate one.
If the reset as described above does not take, or if you can not find it in the menus, you still have the option of going into service mode (See Service Pin-Codes) attached to find the appropriate pin-code to enter service mode and directly setting the count(s) to zero, just as in the monochrome models. The only difference is that there will be separate counts for fuser and transfer kits, and in a few cases, the count will appear as “remaining life” – in this case, set it to 100 (for 100%) rather than zero. If it is expressed as a count, set it to zero.
Also note that some printers will show both “Maintenance Count” and “Maintenance Interval.”
In general, DO NOT change the “Maintenance Interval”, and you should definitely never set it to zero – in some cases, this can cause a permanent 49 error and necessitate replacement of the formatter board.

Konica Minolta QMS 2300 / QMS 2350 - Transfer Belt Reset
Open the printer door, remove the waste toner bin, raise the big blue lever to de-tension the belt, carefully pull the drum out (squeeze the underside of the handle under the big blue lever, and pull gently). Now look for 2 chrome knurled knobs with screwdriver slots in the end - one at upper left, the other middle right. Unscrew them (they are semi-captive, so shouldn't come fully out), and carefully pull out the whole transfer belt assembly. It has a handle on the top to make things easier. The surface is delicate, so be very careful! You can rotate the belt using the gear wheel at one end of the roller, and look for the label. The back plate can also be removed to make the search easier - just remove the cross-head screws. Clean residual glue off using alcohol or methylated spirits and a soft cloth. Dry thoroughly.
When replacing the transfer belt assembly in the printer, hold it by the top handle, tilt it up slightly at your end, and slide the bent-up end of the guide rail (on the top of the assembly) on to the rail in the printer. Push home, tighten knurled knobs, make sure blue lever is UP, slide drum carefully back in, lower big blue lever, replace waste toner bin, shut door.

Close the imaging cover or lock so that the VERTICAL rack is push down.

Keep pushing the horizontal gear rack to the front while disengaging the round gear.
It will lose touch with the vertical gear rack then the horizontal rack and the vertical rack will drop further.
Now the round gear is off and vertical rack is dropped.
While you are continuing to push the horizontal rack to the front and keep the vertical rack up (not dropped) ease the round gear back.
If you mark the round gear with the horizontal gear on their touching point in the first place you would see it should be off by one or two gears.
The goal is to have the horizontal rack being pushed to the front at much as possible while the imaging unit cover is close.
You should manually test the correct position by pushing the horizontal rack to the front, it will move one eighth of an inch and at the same time the vertical rack should drop to the bottom limit.
